Welcome to Learning Labs’ new blog – here’s why it’s worth following

1st June 2018

Learning Labs’ new blog will be packed full of the latest assistive technology advice, comments on changes in DSA legislation and exclusive offers, as well as upcoming events where you can meet our team face-to-face.

Here’s a bit about Learning Labs, or if you are already familiar, you can skip down to some of the events and sector campaigns we are supporting in the coming weeks, which we hope you will join us on.

What is Learning Labs?

Learning Labs is a portal that offers easy step-by-step tutorials designed to support anyone who is using assistive software.

Our learning design is based on leading theories from the world of neuroscience. This means we understand how the brain thinks and learns and have designed our tutorials specifically to support individuals with additional learning needs.

Read, Watch and Do the Labs

The tutorials, or ‘labs,’ are designed in three formats to either read, watch or do – so you can read the text guide, watch a video guide and practice an interactive ‘do’ guide.

These bite-sized tutorials break down every feature of an assistive software program, making it easy to learn, practice and revise all of the different software functionality.

We regularly update our labs to reflect launches of the latest assistive software. These are automatically dropped into the portal when they go live.

Three reasons to check back on the blog

Interested in finding out more or even accessing Learning Labs for FREE? Check out our upcoming events and sector campaigns that you can get involved in.

1.       Advantage Programme

The Learning Labs Advantage Programme aims to give an extra advantage to students for free who have had their DSA recommendations approved already, but do not have Learning Labs included in this. If you are an assessor, check back soon for details on nominating a worthy student.

2.       AT Voice

The AT Voice is an e-newsletter influenced by assessors and trainers, coming soon for assessors and trainers. If you are a needs assessor or AT trainer, we will be sharing the link to sign up here on the blog in the coming weeks.

3.       ADSHE

Come and meet us in person at ADSHE on Friday 22nd June. Our general manager Andy Gough and team members will be on hand to answer all your questions about how Learning Labs’ unique features are designed to specifically support dyslexic students.
